⭐️ Introduction
This week is a special podcast issue. I was interviewed by Daria Mushinsky, a lead product designer, for her podcast Odd Ducklings.
This is my first time on a podcast as an ADHD and product management coach. I discussed some surprising things like what the N-word has to do with the ND word (neurodiversity) and how someone would disclose or not disclose their disability at work.
Check the link below for the listen or skim through the main points in the summary.
I’ll be back next week with more self-care and ADHD in tech.
What We Discussed:
The Power of Words: I shared my habit of introducing myself with pronouns. It's a small thing, but you'd be surprised how it can open doors for real connections.
The Disclosure Dilemma: We tackled the tricky business of sharing your neurodiversity at work. My advice? Focus on what you need, not on labels. It's about knowing your quirks and communicating them effectively.
ADHD: It's All About Emotions: I share my theory that ADHD is primarily about emotional regulation. Understanding this has been a game-changer for me in managing my responses, especially when my boss drops a last-minute request on my desk.
Working with Your Brain, Not Against It: We chatted about understanding your personal rhythms. For me, mornings are my best time. Knowing this helps me schedule my most brain-intensive tasks when I'm at my sharpest.
Tools to Keep You Going: I shared some of my go-to mantras, like "I have the courage to listen" and "Feelings are not facts." These have saved me from spiraling when processing feedback or making tough calls.
Further Reading: For those wanting to dive deeper, I recommended "How to ADHD" by Jessica McCabe and "Dare to Lead" by Brené Brown. Both have been lifesavers on my journey.
